    • Timing: Plant onion sets in early spring or fall, depending on your location and climate.
    • Soil: Onions thrive in loose, well-drained, fertile soil with a good pH level (around 6.0-7.0).
    • Sunlight: Choose a location that receives at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily.
  • Orientation: Ensure the pointy end of the set faces upwards.
  • Depth: Dig holes about 1-2 inches deep and plant the sets so the top is just at the soil surface.
  • Spacing: Space the sets 4-6 inches apart in the row.
  • Mulch: Apply a layer of mulch (straw or leaves) around the plants to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
  • Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during dry periods.
  • Fertilizing: Amend the soil with compost or a balanced fertilizer before planting.
  • Weeding: Regularly remove weeds to prevent competition for nutrients and water.
  • Harvest: Harvest the onions when the foliage starts to yellow and fall over, indicating maturity.
